Athens Insomnia Scale

The Athens Insomnia Scale (Soldatos, Dikeos & Paparrigopoulos, 2000) was developed in Greece, based on the ICD-10 criteria, and is freely available for clinical and research use. It consists of 8 questions: the first five concern sleep itself and the last three the impact on daytime functioning. Instruction: “Answer based on the last 4 weeks — taking into account difficulties that occurred at least 3 times a week.” This is a screening tool, not a diagnosis.

These questionnaires are self-observation tools and are not a substitute for clinical diagnosis by a psychiatrist or another mental health professional.
