AQ-10
Brief Autism Spectrum Traits Test (adults)
The AQ-10 (Allison, Auyeung & Baron-Cohen, 2012; Autism Research Centre, Cambridge) is the short form of the Autism Spectrum Quotient and is recommended as an initial screening tool (also recommended by NICE in the UK). It is freely available for non-commercial clinical use with attribution to the authors.
Instruction: “Read each statement and choose how much you agree that it describes you.” One point is scored per question toward the autism-spectrum direction; a score of ≥6 means a full assessment by a professional is worthwhile. It is not a diagnosis.
These questionnaires are self-observation tools and are not a substitute for clinical diagnosis by a psychiatrist or another mental health professional.
