ERQ

Emotion Regulation Questionnaire

The ERQ was created by Gross and John in 2003 and helps us understand how we manage our emotions. It assesses two main strategies: 1. Cognitive Reappraisal: how often we change the way we think in order to feel better or to handle negative emotions. 2. Expressive Suppression: how often we try to hide or control our emotions outwardly.

These questionnaires are self-observation tools and are not a substitute for clinical diagnosis by a psychiatrist or another mental health professional.
