Complex Trauma Test

International Trauma Questionnaire (ITQ) — PTSD & Complex PTSD (CPTSD)

Cloitre, Shevlin, Brewin, Bisson, Roberts, Maercker, Karatzias & Hyland (2018) — free for clinical and research use with attribution. The ITQ is the standard self-report tool for PTSD and Complex PTSD (CPTSD) according to the World Health Organization's ICD-11 classification. Beyond the classic PTSD symptoms, it assesses “Disturbances in Self-Organization” (DSO) — that is, emotional dysregulation, negative self-concept, and difficulties with emotional closeness — which are often linked to prolonged, repeated interpersonal trauma (such as emotional neglect or abandonment in childhood). Instruction: The first questions concern how you felt over the last month in relation to a difficult or traumatic event. The next ones concern how you feel, think about yourself, and relate to others, generally in your life. Important: This is a screening and self-observation tool — it is not a diagnosis. A diagnosis of PTSD or CPTSD is made by a mental health professional and requires exposure to a traumatic event. The translation is provided for informational use.

These questionnaires are self-observation tools and are not a substitute for clinical diagnosis by a psychiatrist or another mental health professional.
