Self-Reflection and Insight Scale
The Self-Reflection and Insight Scale (Grant, Franklin & Langford, 2002) separates two things we often confuse: Self-Reflection (how often and how intensely you turn toward your thoughts and feelings) and Insight (how much clarity you actually gain from that process — the “why” behind what you feel and do).
The distinction matters: a lot of self-reflection without insight isn't always healthy self-awareness — it can signal a tendency toward rumination (going over the same thoughts again and again without arriving at meaning). Combining the two dimensions gives a more accurate picture.
A self-awareness tool, not a clinical diagnosis.
These questionnaires are self-observation tools and are not a substitute for clinical diagnosis by a psychiatrist or another mental health professional.
